European Research Academy on Alzheimer’s Disease

Registrations Now Open for the European Research Academy on Alzheimer’s Disease

Dementia Research Switzerland – Synapsis Foundation is pleased to announce its participation for the first time as a partner in the European Research Academy on Alzheimer’s Disease (ERA-AD) — formerly known as the European Alzheimer’s Academy Workshop (EAAW). The upcoming edition of the academy will take place from 1 to 5 March 2026 in the picturesque town of Bertinoro, Italy.

Empowering the Next Generation of Alzheimer’s Researchers

The ERA-AD is a joint initiative by four leading European non-profit dementia research funding organisations: Alzheimer Nederland (Netherlands), Alzheimer Forschung Initiative (Germany), Fondation Vaincre Alzheimer (France) and Dementia Research Switzerland – Synapsis Foundation (Switzerland).

The academy is designed to support early-career scientists in taking the next step in their careers — becoming independent researchers. Participants will engage with senior scientists and leading experts in the field, gaining insight into the latest advancements in Alzheimer’s disease research. A highlight of ERA-AD 2026 will be a keynote lecture by renowned neuroscientist Prof. Henrik Zetterberg (Universities of Gothenburg and London).

Programme and Opportunities

In addition to scientific presentations, the academy features seven professional development sessions covering key topics such as successful grant writing or identifying a research niche. With a limited number of 40 participants, the ERA-AD fosters close interaction among peers and senior researchers, encouraging meaningful networking and collaboration. We warmly thank Aurélien Lathulière, University of Geneva, our Swiss representative on the ERA-AD 2026 Scientific Committee, for his valuable input on the program.
