Synapsis Forum 2026
Connecting Researchers in Neurodegenerative Disease
30 November – 1 December 2026 at Hotel Schloss Gerzensee, Gerzensee
Sparking dynamic dialogue among dementia researchers across various disciplines – this is the aim of the Synapsis Forum for supported researchers. Offered every other year, this 1.5 days event provides a premier environment for scientists from all over Switzerland to share expert knowledge and build lasting professional relationships. Early-career researchers in particular will find this to be an invaluable platform for expanding their scientific network.
PARTICIPATION
This event is exclusively open to researchers who currently receive or have previously received funding from the Synapsis Foundation. Each funded researcher is welcome to bring one guest who is or was actively working on the supported project.
PROGRAM
The forum will feature insights from selected researchers into their Synapsis-funded projects. In addition, we are delighted to welcome Prof. Dorothee Dormann (University of Mainz and member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Synapsis Foundation), who will discuss the molecular mechanisms of RNA-binding protein dysfunction in neurodegenerative diseases.
Serving as a refreshing break from the academic sessions, a team from the Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Brain Health at the University of Bern will be on hand to make brain health a truly interactive experience. The schedule offers plenty of opportunities for networking, including an evening poster session on the first day and a dedicated networking workshop on the afternoon of day two.
POSTERS
The poster session is a cornerstone of the Synapsis Forum. We strongly encourage all supported researchers to participate in the session on Monday evening, 30 November 2026, offering early-career scientists an excellent opportunity to present and discuss their ongoing work.

- Rate: CHF 160.– per person/night (Single room, breakfast included).

Availability is limited, so early booking is highly recommended.
Important Note:
Accommodations must be booked and paid for directly by the participants. While the Synapsis Foundation does not cover these costs upfront, travel and hotel expenses are eligible to be billed to your Synapsis Grant.
